3 Peaks Charity Challenge
A huge thank you to the 8 walkers that took on an amazing journey last week and helped raise an incredible £2019.64 for Manx Cancer Help and Rebecca house.
The group of staff from The Buchan School and King William’s College plus friends took the Three Peaks Challenge. The challenge saw them take on the three highest peaks in the UK Ben Nevis, Scarfell Pike and Snowdon in an incredible 24 hours.
The team of Louise Ashton, Cat Beswick, Sean Bostrum, Nicola Cain, Bernie Dunn, Cliff Dunn, Steve Jelly, Charlie Pearson, Conor Smith, Matt Taylor, Richard Torpey, Stacey Newson and organiser and fellow walker Alan Macnair worked through an unexpected heatwave, slept in a mini bus over consecutive nights and navigated some tricky roads between national parks and that was before the mountains were tackled.
Along with cramped sleeping, walking through the heat and taking in some tremendous views, the plucky team helped each other through the 24 hours and completed the task with aplomb!
The climbs varied in time Snowdon - 2hours 49, Scafell – 3hours 59, Ben Nevis – 5 hours 55.
The money that was raised for Manx Cancer Help will help support the service so that anyone affected by Cancer can have access to therapy for free, along with this service we offer support groups to anyone on Island affected by anxiety/low mood.
Thank you to the generosity of all that helped support the 3 peak team and gave generously, strength through support is our motto and this challenge really reflected this.
